triplexed cable, grounding wire

I need to add a triplexed cable to the cable types table. A grounding conductor needs to be run with it. For the "CABLE AREA", this is the area of the grounding conductor only, right? So for a 2AWG grounding conductor, the diameter is 0.2576 inches (ignoring insulation diameter for now because I haven't picked out the actual wire). In a project with English units, area is then pi*r*r = 0.05 inch. Correct?

I do have number of jackets = 3, number of conductors (which is per jacket) = 1, and amount carrying current = 3.

HC,

My apologies for not getting back to you right away. If you need assistance right away, keep in mind that you can call the office at any time and I will answer any questions that you have. Regarding your questions:
  1. The CABLE_AREA field of the ACRS_CABLE_TYPE table is used in conduit and wireway fill only. The value is the cable area of all cable jackets and external ground conductors. Think of it as an override. If a value is input into this field, we will use it over the values found with our calculations using the number of cable jackets, number of conductors, and diameter. For english jobs, use square inches. For metric jobs, use square millimeters. **Note: When using Triplexed cable, the CONDUCTOR_SIZE field of the ACRS_CABLE_TYPE table should be set to 'TRIPLEXED' so the proper tray fill will be calculated
  2. Your calculation for area is incorrect. The area of a Triplexed Cable and ground is
AREA = PI * (Dc)^2/4 + PI * (Dg)^2/4 ... where Dc is Diameter of Triplexed Cable and Dg is Diameter of ground
  3. Regarding the current carrying conductors, you were right. The amount of current carrying conductors is three.
Feel free to call the office if you still have questions.

We ended up not including the grounding wire with the triplex cable type because if we set it up that way, the grounding wire is not accounted for in the bill of materials. The grounding conductor does not come with the single conductor cable we were triplexing. We created a separate cable tag and assigned a grounding cable to it.

HC,

if you enter your cable type as follows it will give you a BOM for the grounding conductor.

15KV 3-1/C #1000,#2/0 BARE GND

the comma is the key.
